"A trip to Wolin Island took place from October 10 to 12. Over 40 students and four guardians from the Erasmus and Strategic Programmes and the International Relations Office participated in the trip. During this exciting weekend, students from all over the world were able to experience the charms of Polish seaside towns and landscapes. Each visited place during this trip was accompanied by engaging historical and geographical facts narrated by Mr Paweł Sowa from the AMU International Relations Office.

The trip to Wolin Island started on October 10, 2025. We began by visiting “Krzywy Las” (Crooked Forest), where our tour guide from the International Relations Office, Mr Paweł Sowa, provided the most significant information about the region and the history of the creation of Krzywy Las's creation. Then we headed to Kamień Pomorski. There, we visited the church and its garden. Mr Paweł told us about the church's history, and finally, we took a group photo in the garden.

Our next stop that day was Tramp Camping and the Cliff of Świętouść. We walked 2 kilometres along the sandy beach to the cliff, accompanied by the sound of waves, the smell of the sea, and the sun's rays breaking through the grey clouds. At the cliff, we took a photo and listened to more interesting facts from Mr Paweł. Next, we headed to the Gosań viewing point, from where we could admire not only the military tower and breathe in the fresh air, but also the view of the sea and the path we would take the next day, leading to the Baltic Sea cliffs to Wisełka.

The day culminated in a visit to the Biała Mewa i Meduza Hotel in Międzyzdroje for dinner. On the way to the hotel, Mr Paweł also told us about the Polish meaning of the hotel's name, which is “White Seagull and Medusa”.

Saturday, October 11, began with a morning walk along the Baltic Sea cliffs to Wisełka. It was the same spot we had admired from the Gosań viewing point the day before. Now we had the opportunity to see the beach and cliffs from a different perspective. The walk took us a total of 8 km. Some of us, including Mr Paweł, braved the beach, despite the cool sand and decidedly cold water, barefoot, dipping our feet in the water and taking souvenir photos. Others of us collected the prettiest shells and colourful stones along the way, which we'd keep as souvenirs from the trip. After hearing more interesting facts from Mr Paweł and taking a photo, we headed into town. Along the way, we walked past the spot where famous Poles left their handprints on the sidewalk. Mr Paweł told us about Ewa the Seagull, Międzyzdroje's mascot, showed us our location on a map, and summarised the day's plan.

From the town, we went to the European bison (wisent) farm in Woliński National Park, where, surrounded by the autumn atmosphere, we admired bison, white-tailed eagles, wolves, and deer.

We then went for lunch and then boarded a bus to the Underground Town bunker. There, we heard about the history of the bunker's construction, toured all the rooms, and heard what they were used for. On the walls were authentic photographs and paintings painted by the soldiers who lived there. In some rooms, there were mannequins depicting soldiers during their daily duties. Finally, we gathered in two lines and loudly shouted "hip hip hurra!" on command. Of course, we didn't forget to take photos either.

After visiting the bunker, we headed to Świnoujście, where we were given free time. In the evening, we returned to our hotel in Międzyzdroje.

We started Sunday, October 12, with a hearty breakfast at the hotel. At 10:00 a.m., we checked out and headed to Szczecin. Along the way, Mr Paweł organised a contest with prizes, and the questions were about the places we had visited so far during the trip.

Upon reaching Szczecin, Mr Paweł told us a fun fact about the so-called "craneosaurs," we took photos together, and were given free time to explore and eat. Then we returned to the bus, which took us back to Poznań." ~ Katarzyna Rosiak, AMU Erasmus and Strategic Programmes Office.
