Erasmus+ Ski trip to Szklarska Poręba

Every semester brings new Erasmus students to Adam Mickiewicz University. This winter semester, in order to help make these student’s stay in Poland an unforgettable experience, the Erasmus+ office organized a Ski Trip to Szklarska Poręba.

During the weekend-long excursion, we stayed at the OSSiR"Mauritius" hotel, in Szklarska Poręba. The students enjoyed getting together at night in a lounge and Sara from Spain highlights that, “it was very positive that they let us get together in the common area because that’s how we all met.” Overall, the stay was very pleasant, and hotel was very accommodating.

Saturday, March 9th, was a day dedicated to Cross-Country Skiing. We drove up the Jizera Mountains where the ski activities would take place, and after everyone got equipped, we walked to the start of the ski slopes. It was snowing a lot for a little while but as Talgat from Kazakhstan says, “the climatic conditions did not prevent us from traveling more than 10 km and spending unforgettable time together.” The journey along the ski slopes was an experience that I’ll never forget,it was equally challenging as it was fun. Most of us had never skied before, sothe the falls were quite numerous, still everyone was having a lot of fun.

The Jizera Mountains were completely covered in snow and it was breathtaking. Francisca from Portugal said, “it was my first-time seeing snow,so it was very special to see it in such a beautiful way. I can’t describe how fascinating it was.”

When we reached ORLE Tourist Shelter, there was a festival going on, theSKI Retro Festival 2019! You could see expressions of both curiosity and surprise amongst everyone. The atmosphere created by the festivities was incredible and contagious, there was a lot of music, dancing and joy.

On Sunday, March 10th, we visited the Kamieńczyk Waterfall and the Krucze Skały (Raven Rocks). We walked through the woods to get there and although everyone was tired the mood was very positive and fun as always.

It was a weekend full of new friendships and unforgettable moments. I would like to thank everyone who took part in the organization of this trip, and especially, show our gratitude to Mr. Mazur that was always helpful, kind andpatient.
